Infinite Butterfly of the Soul
Two revolution Infinity Ring with butterfy
Sterling silver pendant
The Psyche pendant symbolizes the soul and transformation. Many cultures consider the butterfly a representation of the soul. As Om is the Hindu breath of the Universe, in ancient Greece, ψυχή, Psyche (or soul) was considered the breath of life itself. When the soul leaves the body, there is one final last breath. In Euripide’s play Helen Theonoe proclaims, “The soul indeed of the dead lives no more, yet hath it a consciousness that lasts forever, eternal as the ether into which it takes the final plunge.
This final breath is the soul on wings, sometimes described as a white butterfly, the color white representing pure spirit. Some people have experienced the appearance of a butterfly during an important life event. In that moment they may consider the butterfly a guardian spirit, a guide on the path of life. Psyche is symbolic of the journey of the soul and its ability to experience transformation with grace and lightness.
The contours that encircle the Psyche pendant have no beginning and no end; the top side becomes the bottom side and the inside becomes the outside. Touch any edge of the pendant with a fingertip and trace its contour. After going around two complete revolutions you will have traced the circumference of both the inner and outer contours of the of the Psyche Infinity Ring pendant.
Like all of my Infinity Ring sculpture and jewelry designs, the Psyche pendant evokes ancient Feng Shui principles. The never-ending circular nature of its Infinity Ring form promotes infinite peace, love, abundance, healing, and harmony.
