Sherman Infinity Ring
Two revolution Infinity Ring
Sterling silver earrings
The design of the Sherman Infinity Ring earrings was inspired by the work of artist M.C. Escher, mathematician A. F. Moebius - yet is entirely unique. I arrived at this three-dimensional Infinity Ring design after months of experimentation and perfected it assisted by a computer program. My final design incorporates a circle, an equilateral triangle, and an infinity sign - all in one form. From the front view, It appears to be an O-ring or circle. From the side view, it is an equilateral triangle. From the top, it’s a figure eight infinity sign. To finally transform the Sherman Infinity Ring into three dimensions, I created the form in clay and made a ceramic sculpture. I then translated the form into a sterling silver jewelry design made by the traditional lost wax method, hand cast and hand polished.
The Sherman Infinity Ring design has only one edge, and one plane. Touch any point on the ring with your fingertip and trace the edge of the planes that encircle the ring. After tracing two complete revolutions you will have traced the circumference of both the inner and outer circles within the Sherman Infinity Ring.
Like all my sculpture and jewelry designs, the Sherman Infinity Ring earrings evoke ancient Feng Shui principles and promote infinite love, abundance, healing, harmony, and serenity.
